Overweight Lady Invisible at Nordstrom and B-Hags

Nordstrom "Beauty Bash" Ad-
Could they be any thinner?
We have a member who was once approaching the 300 pound mark on her bathroom scale. She was a generally optimistic person, loving life, loving her family, loving to dress well. She performed well in her job and at home.
She was always "clean," neat and put together, yet- when she walked through Nordstrom, it was if she was "invisible." Nobody stared at her- yet nobody was running to help her either. Sales people would not meet her eyes.  Not one of those customer-friendly sales asked, "Can I help you?"
Our friend in pain commented that she was ignored in the clothing departments. She would cruise the second and third floors and nobody would offer assistance. Okay- she could understand that- an almost 300 lb. woman could be hard to fit. But, purses? Shoes? Hats? Why were sales people ignoring her there, too?
     Are you feeling her pain?

Have you experienced pain being overweight?
Each of us has a story to tell of the pain. A hurtful experience. A nasty comment. Stares. Looks. Being "invisible."
Some of us can take a bad experience and translate it into action. Many of us just stick to our comfort level of being the SAME because CHANGE is so scary. What is unknown can be scary.
People stay in abusive homes, keep drinking to excess and keep overeating because patterns get set and they are not able/willing/equipped or brave enough to change.
  • Do you want to change?
  • Would you like to be "visible?"
  • Would you like to truly fulfill your destiny with more energy and presence?
Change comes slowly- rewiring your brain to make better choices and create new habits. Weight Watchers is the most popular, affordable, effective weight-loss program in the world for people to become more nutritionally aware and balanced.

Change can be motivated by two simple things: PLEASURE or PAIN. When you feel one of these things acutely enough- you MIGHT be motivated to change.

    What's a B-Hag?
A Big Hairy Audacious Goal!
Set yourself a goal that inspires you. A really big, exciting goal. Run from the pain towards the pleasure. Only one way to do that- a little bit (possibly a lot) of work every single day. Leave the pain behind. Picture the new you, a really big change. And start working- creating helpful habits, every single day.

And what happened to our friend who was once invisible at Nordstrom? People do look at her now. She's still on the journey- but she's not invisible anymore. She has her own B-Hag. What's yours? What will it take to get you there?

Want to tell you that the woman featured in the Nordstrom experience brought her husband once to WATCH her. He was also amazed at how "invisible" she was as he watched from afar!

Maybe it was her weight... but I get the exact same feeling just being a white haired woman in jeans. It was different when I was younger. You know those perfume ladies in the aisle.. they never look me in the eye and never offer me a sample scent!!! I often wonder if I am invisible too!
