LOVE YOUR SUBSTITUTE

Remember when you were in school and your teacher was absent? You had the   infamous "substitute!" Most kids don't care for their substitute- who wanted the sub when your own teacher knew you and you were comfortable with her (or him) already?
My message today is to STOP buying things at the grocery store that tempt you. Make your home your Weight Watchers sanctuary. You have enough temptations when you are out and about; at least make your home a "safe" place to watch your weight.
What does this have to do with substitutes? I'll tell you:
When you make a "hole" in your life- by stopping to do something,
you need to replace it with something else.
So, if you stop buying full-fat ice cream- you may want to find a replacement. You might think that there is no substitute for full-fat ice cream; it is up to you to be creative! STOP buying things that tempt you or don't fit in your program. There are many exciting foods yet to be discovered. Search out new foods that can keep you happy. Branch out. Go to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or PCC and see what specialty items could work into your food plan. Enjoy the adventure.
But, do be careful. Just because foods are in the "health food store" doesn't mean they are portion controlled or necessarily healthy. It is up to you to use your PointsPlus®  Calculator to determine how any food will fit into your food plan.
Remember, you are the one writing your own food plan. What can you do to replace foods that are, at this point, uncontrollable or not a good fit? Someday you may be able to enjoy those foods in moderation, but for the weight loss journey, you may want to nix them for now. DON'T BUY THEM! REPLACE THEM with something else.
You can do it and enjoy the journey!
