SMART SHOPPER, SMART NOSHER

As Weight Watchers- or should I say, as HUMANS - we have the tendency to fool ourselves!
Be a Smart Shopper!
Learn from Experience.
Did you realize that grocery shopping can be hazardous to our weight loss efforts? Picture it: You go to the store and see something you really like. You may say to yourself, "Hey, I've been so good lately, I can handle that!" I'll just buy it "for the kids" or "for company" or "a treat for my spouse." In fact, you are positive that you can control yourself. You don't PLAN to eat it... because it doesn't really fit into your personal food plan (high PointsPlus values) or you know it is a "red-light" food.  At the moment you buy it, you have good intentions that you won't eat it or maybe you'll just plan on a controlled portion.
Unfortunately, when you get home or even on the car ride home- your good intentions can break down and you eat the whole darn thing- and kick yourself afterwards! (How does Laurie know this? Experience!)
And even if you manage to bring the goodies home and are SURE you won't partake...you have to make that decision all over againevery time you look at them, serve them, dream about them!
Don't do it! Don't fool yourself. Don't buy it if there is even a small chance (or a history) that it is something you'd prefer not to over-indulge in during this serious weight loss effort time.
Last week's meeting focused on Treating Yourself. This is an integral part of long term weight loss and maintenance success. YES! Just be realistic. Until you've developed "super powers," (like I described in the meeting), don't put your hard work at risk! Pick manageable, controllable treats in appropriate portion sizes.
You CAN do it. You WILL develop your own set of “super powers” to get your weight off and your maintenance under control! I’m privileged to be part of your journey.
