MOST people that lose weight and keep it off, weigh themselves every day. Every day. EVERY DAY!!! (Did you hear that?) 75% weigh in once a week.
Why weigh so often? It really helps you stay on track. Not only do I weigh myself every day, I write it down in a little notebook. Yes, I do recommend you do this, too.
Let's say you get a bummer weigh-in at WWers that you weren't expecting. Let's say you've been monitoring your weight daily and there were no bummer numbers. When you got your official weigh-in "bad" news, it wouldn't throw you so much. You would know that it is just a fluctuation and surely when you weigh in next week, that nasty number will be history. Keep on monitoring yourself. Keeping track of your weights also helps when you've gone out to eat and are possibly salt-saturated the following morning. Learn how your body reacts to different eating days.
I am a big fan of the scale. I know some of you cannot stand the darn thing, but really- this takes a change of ATTITUDE. The scale is our friend. It doesn't rule us, it doesn't decide if we are going to have a good day (well, maybe sometimes)- but it does provide guidance. Guidance that stares us in the face and then shouts, "Get back on track!" This is why so many MAINTENANCE members use the scale.
Fool thyself no more, my friend! Watch your step, watch your food- continue to monitor before things get out of hand.
I have another friendly scale to comment about-
The new PointsPlus scale is great at helping you keep on track with our program. It really takes the guess work out of PointsPlus food values and guess work on portion sizes. I think most people come to us seeking help with portion control. There is no easy way to figure out what are “normal” portions in today’s world. The PointsPlus scale surely helps make that piece of the puzzle a little easier.
You know I am a big fan of INVESTING in YOU! Get a scale plunked down on your bathroom floor and weigh every morning. Get the new PointsPlus scale and weigh your cereal, chicken, pasta and nuts. (Especially weigh those nuts!)
Monitoring Yourself is one of the WWers “Helpful Habits.” With these two scales you can monitor yourself in important ways. I’m a fan of monitoring. Are you?
