Yesterday I visited a girlfriend who lost weight- without WWers. I asked her what she did to accomplish this. She answered, "Eat less, move more!" (For the uninitiated, this is what we always say at Weight Watchers.) In fact EVERY diet that works is based on this principle with the emphasis on the EAT LESS. You can lose weight without moving (exercise) but most successful dieters manage both.
One common tool employed by successful losers is to get the junk food out of the house. Make your home a sanctuary- one safe place where you are not tempted to fall off the wagon. Why have your favorite cookies in the freezer (for company, of course) if you have to constantly use willpower to stay away from them? 99 times out of 100 you may be successful in saying no- but that one time you succumb- you can blow a whole week's worth of effort.
Look around your house. What needs to go? What can go to the food bank? What should go into the garbage? What needs to take a quick trip down the garbage disposal? Remember when you baby-proofed your house? NOW is the time to diet-proof your house. Make your home is the one safe place where your don't have to drum up too much willpower.
What about "company" you ask? This friend that lost the weight- she had company yesterday. She served a lovely spread of watermelon and other fresh fruits. Your guests will not complain when offered healthy options. In fact, they may be relieved not to have to say "no" to unwanted calories.
It is the lifestyle changes that work for us in the long run. Diet-proof your house today! Be brave! Be smart. Be a successful long-term loser!
