You're Never Too Old

I took a walk with a weight watching friend. She shared a discussion that she had with another young lady in her 60's. She said, "We just may be too old to lose weight!"
I say, "NONSENSE!" Of course, I didn't say it to her like that. The reality is:
  • We all have lots of excuses. Sometimes we recognize them and sometimes we just fool ourselves.
  • It gets harder and harder to lose weight because our eating habits get more ingrained with every passing year.
  • As we age, we are generally less active.
  • We get used to our body that we've been living with for years, it seems the fire for change may have died down.

In our meeting room, I've met incredible folks in their 60's, 70's and even 80's, who have gotten to goal! The difference between the people who lose the weight and those that say they cannot is that MOTIVATION and GOAL SETTING are paramount to the big winner-losers.

At any age, those who succeed in losing weight KNOW what their goal is and take the thoughtful steps to get there.

Yes, our bodies may not cooperate as speedily to lose as we age- and yes, we may have to eat less...but the choice is yours. If you cut your calories, you will lose (and that goes for all of us- at any age.)

We all know what is keeping us back. Be truthful with yourself.

People don't change until the PAIN OF STAYING THE SAME

is greater than the PAIN OF CHANGE.

Which pain do you want?

See you Thursday!

Dear Laurie,

I lost 86 lbs. with Weight Watchers in the past two years and got to Lifetime last December.
I'm 66 and don't believe for a minute that a person is too old to lose weight.

I'm fitter thanI've every been, belong to a gym, walk every day, do water aerobics, work full time, etc. And I lost it all on Core/SF!
Thanks for your blog - I love it.
