Stuffing is for the Birds

The Thanksgiving meal is really one of the most special meals of the year. There are special foods that each family looks forward to and the thought of the food is almost as precious as the first bite. But now that you've been with Weight Watchers for a period of time, you know what it feels like NOT to feel stuffed so often. Stuffing is for the birds.

Seriously- think about how you felt when you were last "stuffed!" Did it feel good? Were you proud of yourself? Were you regretful? Were you able to look forward to your next meal? Did it ruin your weight loss efforts that week? What does STUFFING YOURSELF do to you? Give yourself a moment to think about it.

Where do you see yourself at the end of Thanksgiving Day? Run a movie in your mind of how you want the day to proceed. What are you going to eat for breakfast and lunch? Who are you going to talk with? What is your focus going to be on during the day? Now picture the meal. What will your plate look like? How high is the food? (Remember: “Islands- not Continents!”)

And now finish your mind movie with how you will feel at the end of the meal. Will you be stuffed? Or will you be happy that you've actually mastered a Weight Watchers' skill in enjoying a meal without being stuffed? Will you be able to look forward to weighing in the next week with a loss?

Weight Watchers teaches eating skills for life. One of those skills is planning and preparing for what we want to happen. Empower yourself. Make Thanksgiving Day (and every day) go just the way you WANT it to go. The food doesn’t control you. You control your weight loss destiny.

I look forward to seeing you after Thanksgiving with a bravo sticker for changing the way you handled this year’s holiday!
