TIME EFFORT PATIENCE

It takes time and effort. Oh yes, and patience.

A New Year is around the corner and some of us have started thinking about our resolutions.  How many times have you said, "This year I'm going to lose weight!" I know a lot of people say this as people generally take action on their resolutions: January is always the biggest month for new joiners at Weight Watchers.

Yet, somewhere on the journey to Slimdom, we drop out. Happens to most of us. I joined Weight Watchers six or seven times before I got to goal. I'm not trying to be depressing, just realistic. That is why WWers writes "Results Not Typical" on their success stories. (Full disclosure!)

How can YOU be one of atypical success stories???

We are all fascinated by success stories. We read about tycoons, singers, actors and famous people who worked tremendously hard and reached their goal. I just read the story of Bruce Springsteen. He had to work for years till people knew who he was.  The list goes on and on.

What have you accomplished that you are really proud of? What did it take for you to accomplish it? Did you have a goal of getting a degree? Getting a husband? Staying married? Getting a divorce? What did you put all your energies towards? Rearing children? Keeping on top of the laundry? Planting a magnificent garden? You know where I'm going on this.

If you really want to lose weight- it takes TIME and EFFORT. You need to know the goal in front of you and I don't mean- "lose 15 pounds!" If the goal is to eat healthier, make better choices and move more - it will take time and effort. And patience. Let's not forget patience. Rome wasn't built in a day and your magnificent new body, cholesterol level and activity endurance won't be built in a day either.  TIME. EFFORT. PATIENCE.

As Hillel, the famous sage said: If not now, when? How about for this New Year's resolution?
